ASAP works with other private and public sector organizations to leverage resources and maximize impact. Prevention partners include the Ankeny Chamber of Commerce and area businesses, the City of Ankeny, Polk County, United Community Services, the Iowa Alliance of Coalitions for Change, the Partnership for a Drug-Free Iowa, Ankeny Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) and others. As an example, in its partnership with SADD, ASAP sponsors college scholarships for qualifying high school students who live a substance-free lifestyle and demonstrate leadership and good character.
Policy Advocacy and Outreach
ASAP is Ankeny’s leading voice on substance abuse issues. As such, ASAP keeps up on current issues and maintains contact with local, state and federal elected officials on policy matters important to area residents. These policies may involve prevention, treatment or enforcement strategies to enhance the health and safety of citizens. Policy makers often seek ASAP’s advice or input on alcohol, tobacco and other drug priorities.
